In an extensive refit project, Bolidt Synthetic Products & Systems has transformed the decks of the Norwegian Joy, one of the most popular vessels in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. This project marks another significant milestone for Bolidt, as the company continues its long-standing partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line, having been involved in both the initial construction of the ship and now, its extensive refurbishment. The comprehensive overhaul includes the installation of more than 6,000 square meters of Bolideck® systems, alongside a unique 2,300 square meter Bolideck® Racetrack, setting new standards for onboard entertainment and safety.

The collaboration between Bolidt, Norwegian Cruise Lines, and Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam for the refit project showcases the power of partnership in achieving remarkable outcomes in the maritime sector. This trio of maritime specialists has worked together closely to ensure the refit was completed to the highest standards, on schedule, and with innovative solutions that cater to the needs of modern cruise passengers.

The Bolideck® systems, renowned for their durability, safety, and aesthetic appeal, have been meticulously designed to enhance the cruising experience for passengers. These systems are specifically engineered to withstand the harsh maritime environment, ensuring long-lasting performance and minimal maintenance. The integration of such extensive decking solutions on the Norwegian Joy underscores Bolidt’s capability to handle large-scale projects and its commitment to innovation in the maritime sector.

A highlight of the refit is the Bolideck® Racetrack offering passengers an exhilarating racing experience. Spanning 2,300 square meters, this state-of-the-art racetrack allows guests to indulge in high-speed action with stunning ocean views, marking a significant advancement in cruise ship entertainment options. The inclusion of the racetrack not only enhances the ship’s appeal but also demonstrates Bolidt’s versatility in creating customized solutions that go beyond traditional decking.

“Bolidt’s involvement in both the initial construction and the recent refurbishment of the Norwegian Joy underlines  our ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in the cruise industry,” said Jacco van Overbeek, Maritime Sales Director. “The Bolideck® systems and the Bolideck® Racetrack are testaments to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible on cruise ships today.”
