Welcome back to another #CSIPlus Meet the Member Interview! Today, we are joined by the Account Manager of Sales Frank van der Leek!
What do you do at your company, and in what circumstances would I come to you for something?
“Marine-related sales.”
What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?
“That all sales people are pushy.”
Does your company have any upcoming projects that you can talk about?
“We have ongoing projects all the time as we do many different sectors.”
What has been your favourite project to work on? Cruise work preferred!
“Very proud to be part of the biggest Superyacht shipyard in the Netherlands.”
What behaviour or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?
“I believe I have a healthy doses of humour and I bring that to all my conversations.”
Could you share the most significant obstacle you have faced in your career so far, particularly in cruise work? Or, have you ever encountered any problems in cruise work that required you to learn a new skillset?
“There is a lot of competition in the lighting industry, sometimes I feel a bit ”too much”.”
What inspired you to pursue this field of work?
“The cruise industry is fairly new to us at Maretti; we have been working in the superyacht industry for a couple of years, and that is an amazing world that keeps surprising me.”
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
“My dream is to own a farm and work with people with disabilities.”
Do you have a fun fact or piece of advice about your company/industry that you can share?
“People underestimate the possibilities of Maretti, the things we can do in-house are more than most would think of ”just a light supplier”.”
Do you specialise in a particular type of product? What makes it different to competitors?
“Maretti is the best in creating atmosphere, we can make the lighting plans as well.”
If you could recommend only one of your products, what would it be?
“Our collection is too big to recommend just one, but please take a look at our ‘Glass jewel’. We make that completely ourselves.”
What kind of questions do you ask before beginning a project, and which piece of information is of utmost value in planning a successful project?
“No specific questions, a good meeting goes smoothly, and the information will be shared naturally.”
What role does sustainability play in your company? How do you incorporate environmentally friendly practices and materials?
“It’s a super hot topic in 2026; we do our very best to stop using plastic packaging, for example, try to combine shipments etc.”
What goals have you met so far in 2026? Or, what goals/milestones are you working to meet this year?
“My first goal is to make Maretti known within the superyacht and cruise ship industry. I believe the company sells itself when people start to get to know us.”
Short but sweet! A great interview Frank. We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming #CSIPlus events.
